Festival Bingo Plus

An interactive experience that help guests explore all the BVW projects during the 2023 ETC Festival.

Role: Producer/ Designer/ Artist

The ETC Festival is an invitation-only event hosted at Carnegie Mellon University’s Entertainment Technology Center (ETC) where the projects, films, games and interactive experiences created by the student teams throughout the ETC are showcased in a carnival-like atmosphere.

We made Festival Bingo last year and received positive feedbacks for the experience. In 2023, we developed Festival Bingo Plus based on the lessons we learned from last year and tried to solve some problems that ETC festival was facing.

Festival Bingo is an interactive experience that enhances ETC festival experience, guests enter the experience as the human guest who is invited to ETC spaceship by ETCers. Guests can use guest system to navigate through the building and gat the real-time traffic information for each room. By scanning the given ID card at each world they can gain related decorations to build their own profile in the guest system.

How guests go through

Make It Juicy

Beyond solving the problems for festival, we want to make the experience itself more engaging and immersive. Here we find the chance to introduce narrative design into our space. We designed the story based on the user journey and combined the history of ETC festival development.

In our story, guests are invited into ETC spaceship to test the worlds built by ETCers and produce CTE(Creative Technology Energy) for ETCers as return. Guests will be given access to their own guest system during festival to support their festival experience.

To tell the story clearly and increase guests’ interest, we made the intro animation and implemented it into our website. This animation also be played on screens sit on all floors during festival to get guests’ attention.
